HIKER RESCUED ON DIAMOND HEAD CRATER TRAIL IN KAHALA

On March 31, 2025, the Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) received a 911 call at 12:31 p.m. and responded to a sick hiker on the Diamond Head Crater Trail with 6 units staffed with 17 personnel. The first unit arrived on scene at 12:37 p.m. and established command. The second-arriving unit secured a safe landing zone. The third-arriving unit ascended the trail on foot.

It was reported that a visiting, elderly female hiker became ill and was unable to descend the trail on her own. HFD personnel arrived at the hiker’s location at 12:53 p.m. where they conducted a medical assessment and provided basic life support before safely airlifting her to the landing zone. Medical care was transferred to Emergency Medical Services at 1:07 p.m.
