On April 5, 2025, the Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) received a 911 call, at 5:34 p.m., and responded to a building fire at 85-125 Alawa Place, with 12 units staffed with 40 personnel. The first unit arrived on scene at 5:39 p.m. to find a working fire within a single-story residential building.
Fire fighters secured a water supply and commenced an aggressive fire attack, bringing the fire under control by 5:46 p.m. Once conditions inside were tenable, primary and secondary searches were completed, confirming that no occupants remained inside. Two residents of the affected house were found outside of the building upon HFD’s arrival. Both of them were transferred to the Emergency Medical Services for medical treatment at 5:57 p.m. and transported to The Queen’s Medical Center – West Oahu. The fire was extinguished at 6:53 p.m.
The American Red Cross was contacted to assist the five displaced residents, and all HFD personnel were accounted for with no injuries reported.
An investigation has been initiated to determine the fire’s origin and cause as well as to provide damage estimates. An update will be sent out once the final investigation report is complete.
