On April 12, 2025, the Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) received a request from the Honolulu Police Department at 2:50 p.m. to assist with a missing person search near the Diamond Head Crater. Units were already on scene from a previous incident. Once the previous incident was mitigated, units began to search the trail area.
It was reported that a male in his 70s became separated from his wife who initiated a missing persons search. He was located on the east-ridge of Diamond Head Crater. Rescue personnel were inserted via Air 1 near his location and a medical assessment was conducted to ensure there were no injuries. He was then airlifted to a landing zone where care was transferred to the Honolulu Emergency Services Department at 3:31 p.m.
