HIKER RESCUED FROM HIDDEN VALLEY TRAIL IN KA‘A‘AWA

On April 18, 2025, the Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) received a 911 call at 2:53 p.m. for a lost hiker on a trail in Ka‘a‘awa and responded with 3 units staffed with 10 personnel. The first unit arrived on scene at 3:06 p.m. and began a search on foot. The next arriving unit secured a landing zone to prepare for air operations.

It was reported that the hiker, a female in her 20s, became lost and stranded. Air 1 inserted rescue personnel on the trail. Then Air 1 located the hiker and inserted rescue personnel into the hiker’s location where a medical assessment was conducted to ensure there were no injuries. The hiker was then safely airlifted to the landing zone where medical care was declined at 4:33 p.m.
