On May 6, 2025, the Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) received a 911 call at 10:20 a.m. and responded to a building fire at 664 Kakoi Street in Mapunapuna with 6 units staffed with 24 personnel. The incident was soon changed to a vehicle fire and the first unit that arrived on scene at 10:24 a.m. found a vehicle on fire.

Fire fighters commenced an aggressive fire attack and confirmed no occupants were inside the vehicle. The vehicle fire was extinguished at 10:41 a.m. and all HFD personnel were accounted for with no injuries reported.

An investigation has been initiated to determine the fire’s origin and cause and to provide damage estimates. An update will be sent out once the final investigation report is complete.
