TWO-ALARM RESIDENTIAL BUILDING FIRE EXTINGUISHED IN EWA BEACH

On May 11, 2025, the Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) received a 911 call at 6:36 p.m. and responded to a building fire at 5371 Edgewater Drive in Ewa Beach with 10 units staffed with 35 personnel. The first unit arrived on scene at 6:45 p.m. to find a working fire within a single-story residential building.

Fire fighters secured a water supply and commenced a defensive fire attack, bringing the fire under control by 7:02 p.m. Four occupants of the affected house were found outside the building upon HFD’s arrival and verbally confirmed that all occupants were accounted for and no one remained inside the house. The occupants were transferred to Emergency Medical Services for medical treatment at 7:04 p.m., where three refused transport and one was transferred to The Queen’s Medical Center – West Oahu. The fire was extinguished at 7:50 p.m.

The HFD notified the American Red Cross to assist the four displaced residents, and all HFD personnel were accounted for with no injuries reported. An investigation has been initiated to determine the fire’s origin and cause, as well as to provide damage estimates. An update will be sent out once the final investigation report is complete.
