UPDATE: The Honolulu Fire Department Fire Investigator has classified the cause of the fire that occurred on May 9, 2025, at 86-352 Pohakea Place in Wai‘anae to be accidental. The occupant had a rice cooker, toaster, microwave oven, and what appeared to be a slow cooker all plugged into a six-outlet plastic power strip. No smoke alarms were found in the entire structure. The damage estimate is $648,000 to the property and $15,000 to the contents.
