On May 16, 2025, the Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) received a 911 call at 10:27 a.m. and responded to a building fire at 3086 Kalihi Street in Kalihi with 10 units staffed with 39 personnel. The first unit arrived on scene at 10:33 a.m. to find a working fire at a two-story home.
Fire fighters secured a water supply and commenced an aggressive fire attack. One resident had climbed onto the roof of the structure and was assisted to a safe area by HFD personnel. Medical care was then transferred to American Medical Response at 10:47 a.m. HFD personnel completed the search to confirm no other occupants were inside the residence. The fire was declared under control at 10:58 a.m. and fully extinguished at 11:50 a.m.
An investigation has been initiated to determine the fire’s origin and cause as well as to provide damage estimates. An update will be sent out once the final investigation report is complete.
