On March 17, 2025, the Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) received a 911 call at 10:59 a.m. about an Emergency Medical Services (EMS) ambulance on fire in the driveway of 2181 Okoa Street in Wailupe. The EMS relayed to HFD dispatch that all personnel were able to safely exit the ambulance and had relocated to the rear of the residence. HFD arrived on scene at 11:08 a.m. to find an ambulance engulfed in flames. HFD fire fighters quickly deployed a fire hose and aggressively attacked the vehicle fire. The fire was under control at 11:11 a.m. and extinguished at 11:27 a.m.
An investigation has been initiated to determine the fire’s origin and cause as well as to provide damage estimates. An update will be sent out once the final investigation report is complete.
