INJURED HIKER RESCUED FROM THE DIAMOND HEAD CRATER TRAIL IN KAHALA

On May 17, 2025, the Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) received a 911 call at 11:32 a.m. and responded to an injured hiker on the Diamond Head Crater Trail in Kahala with 6 units staffed with 17 personnel. The first unit arrived on scene at 11:36 a.m. A landing zone was secured nearby to prepare for air operations utilizing Air 1.

It was reported that a 25-year-old female hiker fell, sustained an injury, and was unable to continue on her own. Rescuers were able to locate her and arrive at her side at 11:54 a.m. They performed a medical assessment, administered basic life support treatment, and prepared her for extraction. Air 1 arrived and safely airlifted her to the landing zone where medical care was transferred to the Emergency Medical Services at 12:27 p.m. Another hiker who was with the injured hiker was able to walk out on their own.
