UPDATE: The Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) Investigator has classified the cause of the fire that occurred on May 11, 2025, at 5371 Edgewater Drive in Ewa Beach, as accidental. The fire was caused by the thermal runaway of an electric bodyboard lithium-ion battery that was recently charged. Unfortunately, two pets perished in the fire. The damage estimate is $608,000 to the building and $20,000 to its contents.
