HIKER RESCUED ON FRIENDSHIP TRAIL IN KANEꞌOHE

On May 30, 2025, the Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) received a 911 call at 4:37 p.m. and responded to a hiker in distress on the Friendship Trail in Kaneꞌohe with 5 units staffed with 13 personnel. The first unit arrived on scene at 4:49 p.m., established command, ascended the trail on foot and secured a nearby landing zone to prepare for air operations.

It was reported that a male hiker in his 30s slid 100 feet off of the trail and was unable to either ascend or descend from his precarious position. Air 1 inserted rescue personnel to the hiker’s location then safely airlifted him to the landing zone where medical care was declined.
