TWO HIKERS RESCUED NEAR THE RIDGE ABOVE MILILANI MAUKA IN MILILANI

On June 1, 2025, the Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) received a 911 call at 5:01 p.m. and responded to two lost hikers near the ridge above Mililani Mauka with 7 units staffed with 21 personnel. The first unit arrived on scene at 5:26 p.m. and secured a landing zone to prepare for air operations. Based on initial information it was believed that the hikers were above Waiahole Valley but after further investigation it was determined that the hikers were closer to Mililani Mauka.

It was reported that two male hikers in their 20s began hiking two days ago near Dole Plantation. They were prepared to do a multi-day hike but this afternoon they became lost and were unable to descend the trail on their own. Air 1 inserted rescue personnel near the hikers’ location where a medical assessment was conducted to ensure there were no injuries. The hikers were then safely airlifted to the landing zone at 8:28 p.m.
