HIKER RESCUED OFF OF THE JUDD TRAIL IN NUꞌUANU

On June 8, 2025, the Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) received a 911 call at 2:41 p.m. and responded to a hiker in distress off of the Judd Trail in Nuꞌuanu with 5 units staffed with 13 personnel. The first unit arrived on scene at 2:48 p.m., established command and ascended the trail on foot.

It was reported that an uninjured male hiker was lost and unable to find his way back to the trail on his own. HFD personnel made voice contact with the hiker but were unable to make physical contact with the hiker, given his location on a different ridge. Air 1 then inserted rescue personnel to the hiker’s location and conducted a medical assessment to confirm he was uninjured. The hiker was, then, safely airlifted to the nearby landing zone where medical care was refused.
