On June 8, 2025, the Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) received a 911 call at 6:43 p.m. and responded to a building fire at 94-137 Awalau Street in Waipahu with 10 units staffed with 35 personnel. The first unit arrived on scene at 6:49 p.m. to find a small, single-story house fully involved in fire.
Fire fighters secured a water supply and commenced a defensive fire attack. HFD personnel confirmed the structure is an abandoned residence. The fire was quickly declared under control at 6:56 p.m. and fully extinguished at 8:15 p.m.
An investigation has been initiated to determine the fire’s origin and cause as well as to provide damage estimates. An update will be sent out once the final investigation report is complete.
