On June 12, 2025, the Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) received a 911 call at 7:33 a.m. and responded to a building fire at 86-2449 Leihua Street in Waianae with 12 units staffed with 37 personnel. The first unit arrived on scene at 7:35 a.m. to find a small, two-story house with smoke and flame visible.
Fire fighters secured a water supply and commenced an offensive fire attack. HFD personnel confirmed that all occupants had exited the structure on their own. The fire was declared under control at 8:02 a.m. and fully extinguished at 8:57 a.m.
All HFD personnel were accounted for with no injuries reported and the American Red Cross was notified in order to assist the seven displaced residents.
An investigation has been initiated to determine the fire’s origin and cause as well as to provide damage estimates. An update will be sent out once the final investigation report is complete.
