HIKERS RESCUED ON DIAMOND HEAD CRATER TRAIL IN KAHALA

On June 13, 2025, the Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) received a 911 call at 10:37 a.m. and responded to a sick hiker on the Diamond Head Crater Trail with 6 units staffed with 17 personnel. The first unit arrived on scene at 10:44 a.m., established command and ascended the trail on foot. The second-arriving unit secured a nearby landing zone to prepare for air operations.

It was reported that a female hiker in her 70s became ill and was unable to descend the trail on her own. HFD personnel arrived at the hiker’s location at 10:58 a.m. where they conducted a medical assessment and provided basic life support before Air 1 safely airlifted her to the nearby landing zone. Medical care was transferred to the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) at 11:27 a.m.

At the same time, a second hiker in distress was reported. A male hiker became ill and was unable to descend the trail on his own. HFD personnel conducted a medical assessment and provided basic life support before Air 1 safely airlifted him to the nearby landing zone where medical care was transferred to EMS at 11:40 a.m.
