RESIDENTIAL BUILDING FIRE EXTINGUISHED IN WAIKIKI

On June 27, 2025, the Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) received a 911 call at 1:03 a.m. and responded to a building fire reported at 2464 Prince Edward Street in Waikiki with 7 units staffed with 26 personnel. The first unit arrived on scene at 1:11 a.m. and reported flames on the balcony of a 6th floor unit.

Fire Fighters proceeded to the sixth floor, forced entry into the unit, and found the unit under renovation with construction materials burning on the balcony. Fire Fighters initially used a water extinguisher to bring the fire under control while fire fighting operations were being set up. Fire fighters also checked units above and next to the fire unit to ensure the fire did not spread. The fire was brought under control at 1:19 a.m. and fully extinguished at 1:23 a.m.

An investigation has been initiated to determine the fire’s origin and cause as well as to provide damage estimates. An update will be sent out once the final investigation report is complete.
