On July 13, 2025, the Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) received a 911 call at 10:50 a.m. and responded to a hiker in distress on the Mānoa Falls Trail in Mānoa with 6 units staffed with 17 personnel. The first unit arrived on scene at 11:01 a.m. and secured a landing zone to prepare for air operations. The next arriving unit proceeded up the trail on foot.
It was reported that a male hiker in his 40s experienced a medical emergency and was unable to safely descend the trail on his own. The unit on foot arrived at the hiker’s location at 11:13 a.m to provide basic life support. Air 1 inserted rescue personnel near the hiker’s location to prepare for an air extraction. The hiker was then safely airlifted to the nearby landing zone where medical care was transferred to the Emergency Medical Services at 11:41 p.m.
All HFD personnel were accounted for with no injuries.
