On July 15, 2025, the Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) received a 911 call at 09:20 a.m. and responded to a sick hiker on the Diamond Head Crater Trail with 6 units staffed with 17 personnel. The first unit arrived on scene at 9:25 a.m. and ascended the trail on foot. The second-arriving unit secured a nearby landing zone to prepare for air operations.
It was reported that a 68-year-old male hiker became ill and was unable to descend the trail on his own. HFD personnel arrived at the hiker’s location at 9:43 a.m. where they conducted a medical assessment and provided basic life support before safely airlifting her to the landing zone. Medical care was transferred to Emergency Medical Services at 10:03 a.m.
All HFD personnel were accounted for with no injuries.
