TWO-ALARM RESIDENTIAL BUILDING FIRE EXTINGUISHED IN WAIPAHU

On July 16, 2025, the Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) received a 911 call at 3:07 p.m. for a second-alarm building fire at the Su Casa Apartment building, located at 94-245 Leowahine Street in Waipahu, and responded with 13 units staffed with 48 personnel. The incident was upgraded to a second-alarm and additional resources were requested due to the smoke column that was visible en route. The first unit arrived on scene at 3:13 p.m., to find smoke emanating from a first-floor apartment unit of the three-story, low-rise residential building.

Fire fighters secured a water supply and initiated an aggressive fire attack with handlines to bring the fire under control at 3:30 p.m. All searches for occupants in the affected apartments confirmed that all occupants safely exited the structure. Overhaul techniques were performed to look for hidden fires in void spaces of the building to ensure the fire did not extend into other floors or adjacent apartments. The fire was extinguished at 4:24 p.m. All HFD personnel were accounted for with no reports of injuries.

The HFD Fire Investigator was requested to determine the origin and cause of the fire as well as provide damage estimates. An update will be sent out once the final investigation report is completed.
