RUBBISH FIRE EXTINGUISHED IN HONOLULU

On July 20, 2025, the Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) received a 911 call at 12:12 p.m. for a rubbish fire at 1680 Kapiolani Boulevard in Honolulu and responded with one unit staffed with four personnel. The responding unit arrived on scene at 12:20 p.m. and reported finding a small rubbish fire burning under the rear of a commercial-sized bus that was parked near the five-story, commercial building.

Fire fighters initiated an aggressive fire attack with portable fire extinguishers to quickly extinguish the fire. All searches for occupants in and around the bus confirmed that no one was in the area. Overhaul techniques were performed to look for hidden fires in void spaces of the bus to ensure the fire did not extend into other areas of the vehicle.

All HFD personnel were accounted for with no reports of injuries.

The HFD Fire Investigator was requested to determine the origin and cause of the fire and to provide damage estimates. An update will be sent out once the final investigation report is completed.
