HIKER RESCUED OFF OF LĀꞌIE FALLS TRAIL IN LĀꞌIE

On July 23, 2025, the Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) received a 911 text message at 2:30 p.m. and responded to a hiker in distress off of the Lāꞌie Falls Trail in Lāꞌie with 6 units staffed with 14 personnel. The first unit arrived on scene at 2:49 p.m., established command and gathered information.

It was reported that a male hiker fell while following the stream and was unable to find his way back to the trail. Air 1 located the hiker at 3:26 p.m. and inserted a rescue person to his location. A medical assessment was conducted to confirm the hiker was uninjured before safely airlifting him to the landing zone at 3:45 p.m. where medical care was declined.

All HFD personnel were accounted for with no injuries.
