TWO-ALARM RESIDENTIAL BUILDING FIRE EXTINGUISHED IN WAIMANALO

On July 25, 2025, the Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) received a 911 call at 12:00 p.m. for a two-alarm building fire located at 41-0978 Waikupanaha Street in Waimanalo, and responded with 9 units staffed with 34 personnel. The first unit arrived on scene at 12:09 p.m. and reported a small, two-story residential structure with the second floor fully involved in fire as well as a 124-gallon propane tank on the first floor lanai, in the immediate vicinity of the fire.

Fire fighters immediately initiated a defensive strategy to cool the propane tank and attack the fire while the second-arriving company worked to secure a water supply. It was confirmed that the two occupants safely exited the structure on their own and were not in need of medical attention.

A downed power line was reported at 12:53 p.m. and Hawaiian Electric quickly deenergized the line in order to keep HFD personnel safe. The fire was declared under control at 1:06 p.m. and fully extinguished at 2:56 p.m.

All HFD personnel were accounted for with no reports of injuries.

The HFD Fire Investigator was requested to determine the origin and cause of the fire as well as provide damage estimates. An update will be sent out once the final investigation report is complete.
