On July 30, 2025, the Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) received a 911 call at 8:13 a.m. and responded to boaters in distress offshore of Haleꞌiwa with 5 units staffed with 14 personnel. The first unit arrived on scene at 8:21 a.m., established command and gathered information.
It was reported that a 30-foot sailboat became disabled the night before and was drifting just over a mile offshore of Haleꞌiwa. Three souls were on board, all uninjured and not in need of medical attention. Ocean Safety made contact with the vessel at 8:42 a.m. Air 1 was used to find and mark the location of the vessel for HFD resources to also make contact and assist with towing the vessel safely to shore at 9:50 a.m.
All HFD personnel were accounted for with no reports of injuries.
