TWO-ALARM RESIDENTIAL BUILDING FIRE EXTINGUISHED IN WAIPAHU

On July 30, 2025, the Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) received a 911 call at 4:21 p.m. for a building fire at 94-1213 Kaniau Place in Waipahu, and responded with 10 units staffed with 36 personnel. While en route, additional resources were requested due to the smoke column rising from the incident location. The first unit arriving on scene at 4:30 p.m. to find three small, abandoned residential structures fully involved with smoke and flames.

Fire fighters secured a water supply and initiated an aggressive fire attack to bring the fire under control at 4:51 p.m. Searches were conducted to confirm that no one was inside the three structures. Overhaul techniques were performed to look for hidden fires in void spaces of the buildings to ensure the fire did not extend into other areas of the structure. The fire was extinguished at 6:18 p.m.

All HFD personnel were accounted for, and there were no reports of injuries.

The HFD Fire Investigator was requested to determine the origin and cause of the fire and provide damage estimates. An update will be sent out once the final investigation report is complete.
