INJURED HIKER RESCUED ON THE KO’OLAU SUMMIT TRAIL IN HAWAI’I KAI

On August 2, 2025, the Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) received a 911 call at 11:35 a.m. and responded to an injured hiker on the Ko’olau Summit Trail in Hawai’i Kai with 6 units staffed with 18 personnel. The first unit arrived on scene at 11:47 a.m. and secured a nearby landing zone to prepare for air operations.

It was reported that a female in her 40s was part of a group of seven hikers when she fell, was injured, and unable to descend the trail on her own. HFD’s Air 1 inserted rescue personnel at the hiker’s location on the trail at 12:25 p.m. where they conducted a medical assessment and provided basic life support. The hiker was then safely transported via Air 1 to the landing zone where medical care was transferred to Emergency Medical Services at 12:44 p.m.

All HFD personnel were accounted for with no injuries.
