LOST HIKER RESCUED OFF OF CROUCHING LION TRAIL IN KAꞌAꞌAWA

On August 9, 2025, the Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) received a 911 call at 12:46 p.m. for a sick hiker off of the Crouching Lion Trail in Kaꞌaꞌawa and responded with 6 units staffed with 18 personnel. The first unit arrived at 1:00 p.m., established command and gathered information. The second-arriving unit secured a landing zone to prepare for air operations.

It was reported that a female in her 20s became ill and was unable to descend the trail with the help of her hiking companion. Air 1 made visual contact and inserted a rescue person to her location at 1:32 p.m. A medical assessment was conducted to confirm the hiker was uninjured then airlifted to the established landing zone at 2:02 p.m. where she declined medical attention. The second hiker was also airlifted to the landing zone.

All HFD personnel were accounted for with no injuries
