On August 14, 2025, the Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) received a 911 call at 4:00 a.m. and responded to a boater in distress in Kaneohe Bay with 5 units with 13 personnel. The first unit arrived at the Heeia Boat Harbor at 4:12 a.m to investigate.
It was reported that a10-foot Livingston boat, with two boaters onboard, began to take on water and start to sink. The boaters were able to stay afloat with a floatation device until rescue boats made face to face contact at 4:45 a.m. Rescue personnel confirmed that there were no injuries and rigged the disabled vessel for towing. HFD’s Rescue boat safely towed the vessel to the Heeia Kea Boat Harbor at 5:27 a.m. where vessel docked under its own power.
All HFD personnel were accounted for with no reports of injuries.
