HIKER RESCUED ON DIAMOND HEAD CRATER TRAIL IN KAHALA

On August 14, 2025, the Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) received a 911 call at 11:41 a.m. and responded to a sick hiker on the Diamond Head Crater Trail with 6 units staffed with 18 personnel. The first unit arrived on scene at 11:47 a.m. and ascended the trail on foot. The second-arriving unit secured a nearby landing zone to prepare for air operations.

It was reported that a male hiker in his 60s became ill and was unable to descend the trail on his own. HFD personnel arrived at the hiker’s location at 12:03 p.m. where they conducted a medical assessment and provided basic life support before safely airlifting him to the landing zone. Medical care was transferred to Emergency Medical Services at 12:26 p.m.

All HFD personnel were accounted for with no injuries
