On August 19, 2025, the Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) received a 911 call at 1:41 a.m. for a sight of smoke in an empty lot near the train tracks close to Kapolei Commons. The Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) responded with two companies staffed with five personnel, with the first company arriving on scene at 1:42 a.m. A small corrugated structure and its contents were on fire with an estimated work time of 30 minutes.
The fire was declared under control at 2:02 a.m. The Honolulu Police Department was notified of a body found at 2:11 a.m.
All HFD personnel were accounted for with no injuries reported.
An investigation has been initiated to determine the fire’s origin and cause as well as to provide damage estimates. An update will be sent out once the final investigation report is complete.
