RESIDENTIAL BUILDING FIRE EXTINGUISHED IN KANEOHE

On August 23, 2025, the Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) received a 911 call at 7:30 p.m. and responded to a building fire at 46-270 Kahuhipa Street in Kaneohe with 12 units staffed with 46 personnel. The first unit arrived on scene at 7:35 p.m. and reported no signs of smoke or fire from Kahuhipa Street. As the first unit investigated further, they reported smoke and flames coming from a sixth floor unit on the other side of the building.

Fire fighters proceeded to the sixth floor to initiate an aggressive fire attack while other units secured a water supply. Once units arrived on the sixth floor, they witnessed neighbors using the building’s fire fighting hose to control the fire and assisted with evacuating the occupants. Firefighters provided basic life support for the occupants and patient care was transferred to the Emergency Medical Services at 7:50 p.m. The fire was brought under control at 7:53 p.m. and extinguished at 8:00 p.m.

All HFD personnel were accounted for with no injuries reported. The Red Cross was requested to assist the displaced occupants.

An investigation has been initiated to determine the fire’s origin and cause and to provide damage estimates. An update will be sent out once the final investigation report is complete.
