RESIDENTIAL BUILDING FIRE EXTINGUISHED IN AINA HAINA

On August 28, 2025, the Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) received a 911 call at 4:40 a.m. and responded to a building fire at 668 Lawelawe Street in Aina Haina with 10 units staffed with 38 personnel. The first unit arrived on scene at 4:46 a.m. to find a home fully involved in fire.

Fire fighters secured a water supply and initiated a defensive operation. Fire had extended to an adjacent home and an offensive fire attack was simultaneously initiated at that location. The fire at the second home was brought under control at 5:13 a.m. and fully extinguished at 8:11 a.m. The fire at the primary home was brought under control at 5:26 a.m. and fully extinguished at 8:48 a.m.

All HFD personnel were accounted for with no injuries reported.

An investigation has been initiated to determine the fire’s origin and cause as well as to provide damage estimates. An update will be sent out once the final investigation report is complete.
