On October 4, 2025, the Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) received a 911 call at 12:04 p.m. and responded to an injured hiker off of the Kaena Point Trail with 6 units staffed with 18 personnel. The first unit arrived on scene at 12:22 p.m., established command and gathered information. The second-arriving unit secured a nearby landing zone to prepare for air operations.
It was reported that a female hiker in her 20s suffered an injury and was unable to descend the trail on her own. Air 1 inserted a rescue person to the hiker’s location at where they conducted a medical assessment and provided basic life support before safely airlifting her to the landing zone. Medical care was transferred to Emergency Medical Services at 1:14 p.m.
All HFD personnel were accounted for with no injuries.
