On October 5, 2025, the Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) received a 911 call at 10:21 a.m. and responded to an injured mountain biker on the Ohana Trail in Maunawili with 6 units staffed with 19 personnel. The first unit arrived on scene at 10:33 a.m. and ascended the trail on foot. The next-arriving unit secured a landing zone nearby to prepare for air operations.
It was reported that a male in his 60s suffered an injury while mountain biking and was unable to descend the trail on his own. Personnel on foot made contact with the injured cyclist at 11:08 a.m. where a medical assessment was performed. Air 1 arrived and safely airlifted the injured cyclist to the nearby landing zone at 12:02 p.m.
All HFD personnel were accounted for with no injuries.
