RESIDENTIAL BUILDING FIRE EXTINGUISHED IN NANAKULI

On October 7, 2025, the Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) received a 911 call at 3:11 p.m. and responded to a residential building fire reported at 87-2146 Helelua Place in Nanakuli with 15 units staffed with 49 personnel. The first unit arrived on scene at 3:21 p.m. to find both floors of a center unit in a two-story apartment building engulfed in fire.

Fire fighters secured a water supply and initiated an offensive fire attack. The fire was brought under control at 3:54 p.m. and fully extinguished at 4:48 p.m. Fire fighters conducted searches of the fire unit as well as neighboring units to ensure no one was inside at the time of the fire. One neighboring unit sustained fire damage and the American Red Cross was notified to assist the displaced occupants.

All HFD personnel were accounted for with no injuries reported.

An investigation has been initiated to determine the fire’s origin and cause and to provide damage estimates. An update will be sent out once the final investigation report is complete.
