HIKER RESCUED ON MAUNAWILI DEMONSTRATION TRAIL IN KAILUA

On October 15, 2025, the Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) received a 911 call at 10:51 a.m. and responded to an injured hiker on the Maunawili Demonstration Trail in Kailua with 6 units staffed with 18 personnel. The first unit arrived on scene at 11:01 a.m. and ascended the trail on foot. The second-arriving unit secured a nearby landing zone to prepare for air operations.

It was reported that a female hiker in her 50s suffered an injury and was unable to descend the trail on her own. Air 2 inserted rescue personnel to the hiker’s location at 11:25 a.m. where they conducted a medical assessment and provided basic life support. Air 2, then, safely airlifted the hiker to the landing zone where medical care was transferred to Emergency Medical Services at 11:55 a.m. The remainder of the hiking party returned to the trailhead on foot.

All HFD personnel were accounted for with no injuries.
