TWO-ALARM RESIDENTIAL BUILDING FIRE EXTINGUISHED IN EWA BEACH

On October 29, 2025, the Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) received a 911 call at 6:35 p.m. for a two-alarm building fire at 91-471 Fort Weaver Road in Ewa Beach and responded with 11 units staffed with 40 personnel. The first unit arrived on scene at 6:43 p.m. to find a single-story residential structure with flames and smoke coming from the front of the house. A detached structure in the back of the property was also on fire.

Fire fighters secured multiple water supplies and used handlines to initiate an aggressive fire attack. While advancing hoselines towards the home and structure, fire fighters were met with sounds of explosions, which changed the operational strategy to a defensive posture, resulting in fighting the fire from the exterior. The fire was brought under control at 7:29 p.m. While searching for occupants in the home, one person was discovered under the portion of the structure that had collapsed and was extricated. All other occupants escaped safely; however, three required medical attention from the Emergency Medical Services Department. Overhaul techniques were used to look for hidden, smoldering fires in the void spaces of the building to ensure the fire did not spread. The fire was extinguished at 9:17 p.m.

All HFD personnel were accounted for with no reports of injuries.

The American Red Cross was requested to assist the displaced occupants.

The HFD Fire Investigator was requested to determine the origin and cause of the fire and provide damage estimates. Once the final investigation report is completed, an update will be sent out.
