On November 3, 2025, the Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) received a 911 call at 1:26 a.m. for a building fire at 1136 California Avenue in Wahiawa and responded with 11 units staffed with 35 personnel. The first unit arrived at 1:29 a.m. to find a working fire at a single-story structure that is reported to accommodate the Department of Education’s Central Oahu District Office.
Fire fighters secured a water supply and initiated an aggressive offensive fire attack, quickly getting water on the fire at 1:38 a.m. The fire was brought under control at 2:02 a.m. and extinguished at 2:27 a.m. All searches for occupants in the structure confirmed that no one was inside. Overhaul techniques were performed to extinguish smoldering materials while looking for hidden fires in void spaces to ensure the fire did not extend into other areas of the building.
All HFD personnel were accounted for, and there were no reports of injuries.
An investigation has been initiated to determine the fire’s origin and cause and to provide damage estimates. An update will be sent out once the final investigation report is complete.
