HIKER RESCUED ON THE KAIPAPAU RIDGE TRAIL IN HAU’ULA

On November 6, 2025, the Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) received a 911 call at 8:23 p.m. and responded to a missing hiker on the Kaipapau Ridge Trail with 7 units staffed with 19 personnel. The first unit arrived on scene at 8:32 p.m. and ascended the trail on foot.

It was reported that a male hiker in his 60s began hiking at 10:30 a.m. and was later reported missing by a family member after he did not return from his hike. At approximately 11:05 p.m., Air 1 spotted a light in the mountains and investigated its source. Air 1 located the hiker and inserted a rescue person to the hiker’s location where they conducted a medical assessment to ensure there were no injuries. The hiker was then safely transported to the landing zone at 11:37 p.m.

All HFD personnel were accounted for with no injuries.
