On November 6, 2025, the Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) received a 911 call at 8:53 a.m. for a two-alarm building fire at 84-680 Kili Drive in Makaha and responded with 11 units staffed with 40 personnel. The first unit arrived on scene at 9:00 a.m. to find a high-rise residential structure with flames and smoke coming from one of the units on the sixteenth floor of the building.
Fire fighters secured multiple water supplies and used high-rise operations to initiate an aggressive fire attack. The fire was brought under control at 9:30 a.m. The occupant required medical attention from the Emergency Medical Services Department. Overhaul techniques were used to look for hidden, smoldering fires in the void spaces of the building to ensure the fire did not spread. The fire was extinguished at 10:44 a.m. All HFD personnel were accounted for with no reports of injuries.
The HFD Fire Investigator has classified the cause of the fire as accidental. The fire occurred while charging a micro-mobility device. The estimated damage is $450,000, which includes total losses to the primary residence and the unit below due to water damage.
