On November 21, 2025, the Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) received a 911 call at 9:38 p.m. and responded to a building fire at 1144 2nd Avenue in Kaimuki with 10 units staffed with 38 personnel. The first unit arrived on scene at 9:44 p.m. to find a single-family home fully involved in fire.
Fire fighters secured a water supply, commenced a defensive fire attack. The only occupant of the home exited on his own and confirmed there was no one else inside. HFD personnel assessed the occupant, provided basic life support and transferred medical care to Emergency Medical Services. The fire was brought under control at 10:05 p.m. and fully extinguished at 10:12 p.m.
The American Red Cross was notified to assist the displaced occupant of the home. All HFD personnel were accounted for with no injuries reported.
An investigation has been initiated to determine the fire’s origin and cause as well as to provide damage estimates. An update will be sent out once the final investigation report is complete.
