UPDATE: The Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) Fire Investigator has classified the cause of the fire that occurred on November 20, 2025, at 2827 Koaniani Way in Manoa, as accidental. The fire originated from a mechanical failure of the refrigerator’s condenser fan, which produced open-flame combustion that spread into the void space between the appliance and the wall, as well as inside the appliance. The damage estimate is $150,000 to the structure and its contents.
