UPDATE: The Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) Fire Investigator has classified the cause of the fire that occurred on November 21, 2025, at 1144 2nd Avenue in Kaimuki, as accidental. The fire originated from an older model gas stove pilot light that ignited plastic food storage containers left on the stove top. The fire then spread to the floor and subsequently to the rest of the structure. The damage estimate is $368,000 to the structure, its contents, and a vehicle in the garage.
