On December 6, 2025, the Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) received a 911 call at 5:07 p.m. and responded to an injured hiker on the Olomana Trail in Kailua with 6 units staffed with 18 personnel. The first unit arrived on scene at 5:14 p.m., established command and ascended the trail on foot. The second-arriving unit secured a nearby landing zone to prepare for air operations.
It was reported that a female hiker in her 20s slid off of the trail and was injured and stuck in a precarious position. HFD personnel arrived at the hiker’s location where they conducted a medical assessment and provided basic life support. Air 1 then safely airlifted the injured hiker and her two hiking companions to the landing zone where medical care was transferred to Emergency Medical Services.
All HFD personnel were accounted for with no injuries.
