HIKER RESCUED ON KOKO HEAD CRATER TRAIL IN HAWAII KAI

On December 23, 2025, the Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) received a 911 call at 8:54 a.m. and responded to an injured hiker on the Koko Head Crater Trail with 6 units staffed with 18 personnel. The first unit arrived on scene at 9:02 a.m. and ascended the trail on foot. The second-arriving unit secured a nearby landing zone to prepare for air operations.

It was reported that a female hiker in her 20s suffered an injury and was unable to descend the trail on her own. HFD personnel on foot arrived at the hiker’s location where they conducted a medical assessment and provided basic life support. The hiker was then hoisted into the aircraft and safely transported to the nearby landing zone. Medical care was transferred to Emergency Medical Services at 9:55 a.m.

All HFD personnel were accounted for with no injuries.
