DISABLED VESSEL WITH FOUR BOATERS ONBOARD RESCUED OUTSIDE WAIKIKI

On December 27, 2025, the Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) received a 911 call at 5:57 p.m. and responded to a boater in distress offshore of Waikiki with 5 units with 15 personnel. The first unit arrived on scene at 6:02 p.m to investigate.

It was reported that a 35-foot sailboat with four souls onboard encountered engine problems and was adrift approximately one mile offshore. An HFD rescue boat arrived at the ocean scene and made contact with the vessel at 6:28 p.m. Rescue personnel boarded and confirmed that there were no injuries and rigged the disabled vessel for towing. HFD’s rescue boat safely towed the vessel to the Ala Wai Boat Harbor at 7:13 p.m.

All HFD personnel were accounted for with no reports of injuries.
