RESIDENTIAL BUILDING FIRE EXTINGUISHED IN KALIHI

On January 3, 2026, the Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) received a 911 call at 10:39 a.m. and responded to a building fire at 2342 Kalena Drive in Kalihi with 11 units staffed with 42 personnel. The first unit arrived on scene at 10:45 a.m. to find a working fire at a two-story apartment building.

Fire fighters secured a water supply, initiated an offensive fire attack and completed a search to confirm no occupants were inside the residence. One occupant exited the structure on their own and medical care was transferred to Emergency Medical Services at 11:05 a.m. A total of two dogs and one cat were extricated by HFD personnel and reunited with their owner. The fire was declared under control at 10:56 a.m. and fully extinguished at 11:04 a.m.

All HFD personnel were accounted for with no injuries reported.

An investigation has been initiated to determine the fire’s origin and cause as well as to provide damage estimates. An update will be sent out once the final investigation report is complete.
