HIKER RESCUED OFF OF THE MAꞌILI PILLBOX TRAIL IN MAꞌILI

On January 7, 20265, the Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) received a 911 call at 6:01 p.m. and responded to a hiker in distress on the Maꞌili Pillbox Trail in Maꞌili with 5 units staffed with 13 personnel. The first unit arrived on scene at 6:10 p.m., established command and ascended the trail on foot.

It was reported that the female hiker in her 30s sustained an injury and was unable to make her way to the trailhead. The first unit made contact with the hiker at 6:30 p.m. and conducted a medical assessment. Air 1 located the hiker and rescue personnel at their location at 6:51 p.m. Air 1 safely airlifted the hiker to the nearby landing zone where medical care was transferred to Emergency Medical Services at 7:02 p.m.

All HFD personnel were accounted for with no injuries.
