INJURED MOUNTAIN BIKER RESCUED ON THE WAAHILA TRAIL IN MANOA

On January 10, 2026, the Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) received a 911 call at 4:43 p.m. and responded to an injured mountain biker on the Waahila Trail in Manoa with 6 units staffed with 17 personnel. The first unit arrived on scene at 5:00 p.m. and established command. Additional units ascended the trail on foot and secured a landing zone nearby to prepare for air operations.

It was reported that a male in his 30s was injured while mountain biking and was unable to descend the trail on his own. Personnel on foot made contact with the injured cyclist at 5:08 p.m. and provided medical treatment. The cyclist was prepared for air extraction and Air 2 safely airlifted him to the nearby landing zone where care was transferred to Emergency Medical Services at 5:35 p.m.

All HFD personnel were accounted for with no injuries.
